Why we can share FAA information

CRC Aerial may discuss public aviation rules, explain factual information in its own words, and direct readers to official Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidance. Under 17 U.S.C. §105, works prepared by United States government officers or employees as part of their official duties generally are not protected by U.S. copyright. The definition of a government work appears in 17 U.S.C. §101.

This is the general legal basis for reusing qualifying official federal material. It is not a special license or endorsement issued to CRC Aerial. Third-party material appearing on government websites, transferred copyrights, certain statutory exceptions, logos, seals, and other restricted material require separate review.

Independent information, official sources

CRC Aerial is an independent business and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the FAA or any other government agency. Website explanations are general information, not official agency interpretations or legal advice. Publication of aviation information does not itself establish pilot certification, flight authorization, or permission to conduct a particular flight. Consult current official rules and guidance before relying on a website summary.

Other authors, photographs, and publications

Our publication policy is to use original material, verified public-domain material, or material covered by permission or a license appropriate for the intended commercial website use. When required, credits and license links belong alongside the material or in its source entry. Credit alone does not grant permission. Public availability does not make a work public domain.

Facts and ideas can generally be explained in original wording, but another author's protected expression, photographs, diagrams, or creative arrangements may require permission. Fair use depends on the particular use and the statutory factors; this notice does not claim a blanket fair-use exemption.
